Privacy Policy
PCBusBench is built by someone who hates what most PC tools do with your data. This page is the whole story, in plain language — and it matches what the software actually does, which you can verify.
What the app collects
- By default: nothing leaves your PC. Every diagnostic runs locally. Results are stored only on your machine.
- Crowd sharing is opt-in. If — and only if — you turn on "Share anonymous results," a single benchmark record is sent to our database: the drive model, bus type, and measured speeds.
- What we deliberately never send: drive/PC serial numbers, your hostname, your IP address, your files, or any account identifier. A random install GUID (generated on your machine, tied to nothing) is included only for de-duplication and abuse control. A coarse country code, provided by Cloudflare, may be recorded.
License validation
If you buy a license, the app sends your license key and that same random install GUID to confirm the key is valid and to enforce the device count. The key node-locks to the random install ID — never to a hardware fingerprint — so we still never touch your serials.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that. We do store the email address you provide at checkout and the license key issued to it, so we can deliver your key and help you if you need support.
The website
This site runs on Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs for security and reliability. We run no advertising trackers, no analytics pixels, and no third-party marketing scripts.
What we never do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Ever.
- We do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not require an account to use the free diagnostics.
Your choices
You can turn crowd sharing off at any time in the app. To have data associated with your purchase email deleted, email us and we'll take care of it.
